The Rules

& Format

All cyclists must wear a helmet. No ear buds are allowed. Your bicycle needs to be in safe, working condition, ie, front and back brakes need to work. It is recommended (required for the Savage Century) that you and your bike be as visible as possible. This includes front and rear lights and high visibility clothing.

The Dirty 30 Events take place on open roads, so all Michigan road laws apply to all cyclists. Cyclists must obey all traffic signs, may not ride more than two abreast, and should not cross the center line. We've made every attempt to keep the course on gravel. However, there will be sections of pavement that are part of the course or that you will cross. Please be extra vigilant in these areas.

Cyclists, ride on the right side of the road, with the flow of traffic. Runners, run on the left side of the road, against the flow of traffic.

The Dirty 30 courses, besides the Savage Century, will be well-marked with arrows at every turn. Key intersections will be staffed by volunteers and Ionia County police. Volunteers cannot stop vehicular traffic. Volunteers can only advise riders when it is clear to continue on the route. In the end, it is still the responsibility of the rider to determine if it is safe to continue riding on the course.

We will race rain or shine… or snow. In the event of a thunderstorm, tornado, or freak lake-effect blizzard, we will postpone the race until conditions improve. Find secure shelter if severe weather occurs before, during, or after the event. We will not be able to reschedule to a different date if weather causes the event to be cancelled. Please wear appropriate clothing to protect you from the elements.

There are NO refunds or deferments.
